Person
Tasks
The Person Task is a social, interactive challenge where participants complete the task by finding another player who fits a prompt. Instead of submitting a photo or text, players enter the name of a fellow participant (or select from the player list) to record their answer. This task type is ideal for icebreakers, networking, and team-building activities. It encourages players to talk to one another, discover unique facts, and build connections.
How to Create Person Tasks
Step 1: Open the Deckle app or try our web version.
Step 2: Choose your game type — Group or Solo.
Group Mode: Players team up before starting. You can allow them to pick their teams or let Deckle auto-assign groups using emoji matching. When a Person Task appears, the team collaborates to identify someone who fits the prompt, and one team member submits the answer on behalf of the group. Deckle rotates who gets to submit so everyone participates.
Solo Mode: Players participate independently. Each person searches for someone who matches the prompt, then submits the other player’s name directly.

Step 3: Enter the Manage Tasks page.
Click “+ Task” to initiate.
Choose Person as the task submission type.
In the Task Prompt, write your question or instruction (e.g., “Find someone who speaks three or more languages”).
Click Done — your task is now saved in your collection.

Tips & Best Practices
Creating a Person Task is straightforward, but you can make it more engaging with these best practices:
➤ Write Inclusive Prompts
Keep prompts light, fun, and easy for players to answer. Avoid sensitive or personal questions.
➤ Use a Task Description
Give extra details to help players understand the prompt. You can:
Add a hint (“Look for someone in your group who’s wearing sneakers — maybe they’re the runner!”)
Offer a suggestion (“Start by asking if anyone speaks another language at home.”)
Provide context (“Some of your teammates may have studied abroad — ask around!”)
➤ Assign Default Points
Award points based on importance or difficulty. Submitting a name successfully adds to the leaderboard and keeps competition exciting.

➤ Upload a Task Image
Add a visual clue, example, or your brand logo. This makes the prompt clearer and reinforces your event’s theme.
➤ Enable Location Function
If you want the task to happen at a specific spot (e.g., a networking area, building, or booth), enable location guidance. Players will see where to go on the map before completing the task.
➤ Customize the Finish Page
Upload an image or message that appears when the task is completed. Use it to:
Celebrate with a “Nice work!” message
Show a correct example (e.g., a photo of someone playing guitar for a “Find a musician” prompt)
Share branding or next steps
