GPS Location
Tasks
The GPS Location Task is a real-world challenge that requires participants to travel to a specific spot and verify their presence using their phone’s GPS. Instead of submitting a photo or text, players complete the task by physically arriving within the set radius. This task type is ideal for scavenger hunts, orientation tours, and outdoor races. It encourages exploration, adds movement to your event, and makes the experience feel like a true adventure. Hosts can set exact points on the map and decide how close players must get before the task is marked complete.
How to Create GPS Location Tasks
Step 1: Open the Deckle app or try our web version.
Step 2: Choose your game type — Group or Solo.
Group Mode: Players team up before starting. Deckle can auto-assign groups with emoji matching or allow teams to self-select. In a GPS task, the whole team must navigate together, and one member verifies the location on behalf of the group.
Solo Mode: Players participate independently. Each person finds the location themselves and verifies their presence when they arrive.

Step 3: Enter the Manage Tasks page.
Click “+ Task” to initiate.
Choose GPS Location as the task submission type.
On the map, select your location point and set the radius to control how close participants need to get. You can also choose to hide the pin for an extra challenge.
Enter your Task Prompt and instruct your players.
Click Done — your task is now saved in your collection.

Tips & Best Practices
➤ Enable/disable show location on map
Keep the map marker off to make the challenge more like a treasure hunt. Players will rely on your description and image to find the place. Or enable the function to give clear navigational guidance.
➤ Use a Task Description
Provide context, hints, or directions to guide players toward the location. For example:
“Head towards the tallest building in the square — you’ll find the checkpoint at its base.”
➤ Assign Default Points
Award points based on distance, difficulty, or importance of the location. This keeps players motivated to move and explore.

➤ Upload a Task Image
Show a clue or landmark photo to help participants identify the spot. This is especially useful when hiding the location.
➤ Customize the Finish Page
Celebrate arrival with a themed message or image, such as:
“Well done, you’ve unlocked the secret spot!”
A photo of the landmark with a short fun fact
A branded finish image for corporate events
