Drawing

Tasks

The Drawing Task invites players to sketch their response directly on the screen. Whether you want them to design a team logo, trace a building outline, or draw something from imagination, this task sparks creativity and adds a playful break between physical challenges.

How to Create Drawing Tasks

Step 1: Open the Deckle app or use the Web version

Step 2: Choose your game type — Group or Solo.

  • Group Mode: Players team up before starting. You can allow them to pick their teams or let Deckle auto-assign groups using emoji matching. Each participant is given a random emoji, and they pair up by finding someone with the same one. Group mode is great for collaboration and team work.

  • Solo Mode: Players participate independently. If you want them to explore a place, learn about new things, or simply complete challenges on their own, solo mode is for you.

Step 3: Enter the Deckle Dashboard

  1. Click “+ Task” to begin.

  2. Choose Drawing as the task submission type.

  3. In the Task Prompt, name your activity (e.g., “Draw a desk” or “Show your national flag”).

  4. Click Done — your task is now saved in your collection.

Drawing Tool Guide

The drawing tool in Deckle is simple and intuitive. Players can create fun, fast sketches using the following features:

  1. Pen: Draws solid, consistent lines — ideal for writing or outlining.

  2. Brush: Simulates a real brushstroke — thicker at the start and lighter at the end, with dynamic texture.

  3. Straight Line Tool: Tap and drag to draw clean, straight lines.

  4. Square Tool: Creates sharp-edged rectangles — great for boxes, frames, or diagrams.

  5. Circle Tool: Tap and drag to make circles or ovals.

  6. Eraser: Remove parts of your drawing precisely.

  7. Stroke Thickness: Slide to adjust line or brush thickness from thin to bold.

  8. Color Picker: Tap to select from a wide palette of colors.

  9. Undo / Redo: Undo your last action or bring it back with redo.

  10. Rotate Canvas: Rotate your whole drawing space to shift perspective.

  11. Restart: Clear everything and start fresh.

Tips & Best Practices

Drawing Tasks are a fun way to boost creativity — and with a few thoughtful touches, they can become a highlight of your event. Here’s how to make them even better:

Add a Task Description

Set the scene or inspire imagination. Whether it’s “Design your dream student lounge” or “Sketch what you see in front of the law library,” a short prompt helps guide the tone and style of the drawing.

➤ Assign default points to the task

Add points to the task based on importance or difficulty.

Players receive points after completing the task and contribute to the leaderboard; this encourages friendly competition.

Upload a Task Image

Show an example sketch, a visual clue, or even a background for players to draw over. This can spark ideas or give context — especially useful if you’re asking them to trace, annotate, or build on an image.

Enable Location Function

For drawing tasks based on physical spaces — like “Sketch the shape of the Science Building” or “Draw something you see at South Lawn” — turn on location. Players will need to be on-site before they can submit.

Customize the Finish Page

Celebrate creativity by uploading a fun “Well done!” message, a showcase image, or next-step instructions. You can even highlight your event brand or include a shoutout to the most creative entries.
