Product Design Intern

Role Description

This is a paid remote role for a Product Design Intern. You will work closely with the Lead Product Designer and the Engineering team to bring ideas to life through hands-on design work in Figma. From brainstorming, designing and refining user experiences, to maintaining our design system, you’ll gain end-to-end exposure to the design process in a fast-paced, high-traction startup environment. You’ll participate in product discussions, conduct user testing and translate insights into actionable design improvements. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, take feedback, and contribute meaningfully to both our app and web experiences.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Product Designer on design reviews and product discussions

  • Work hands-on in Figma - understand requirements, creating components, maintaining and improving style guides and iterating on feedback

  • Adapt to and extend Deckle’s existing design system

  • Conduct user testing and translate insights into design updates

  • Contribute to the design of both web and mobile app features

  • Take initiative to identify usability issues and propose design improvements

  • Optionally work on your own design projects within Deckle, guided by mentorship

Qualifications

  • High proficiency in Figma and strong understanding of UI/UX design principles

  • Strong interest in tech, upskilling and keeping up with the latest and best trends/practices

  • Experience designing intuitive interfaces and user flows (showcased through a portfolio)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Eagerness to learn, take feedback and iterate quickly

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup

  • Interest in startups, user-centered design and product growth

  • Experience conducting usability testing or maintaining design systems is a plus


Working Arrangements

  • Flexible remote work-from-home setup

  • 10–15 hours per week

  • Weekly design meetings and feedback sessions, and a weekly team sprint retro

  • 1:1 mentorship from the Lead Product Designer
