Tasks
The Photo Task is a flexible, visual challenge where participants respond by submitting a photo. Whether you want players to explore a location, interact with others, or capture a creative moment, this task type adds energy and engagement to any event. Use it to guide teams to specific landmarks, spark team-building with group selfies, or document key moments during a race. You can also specify a location to direct players with a map to exact spots before they snap their shot. All submissions are stored securely and can be reviewed later.
How to Create Photo Tasks
Step 1: Open the Deckle app or use the Web version.

Step 2: Choose your game type — Group or Solo.
Group Mode: Players team up before starting. You can allow them to pick their teams or let Deckle auto-assign groups using emoji matching. Each participant is given a random emoji, and they pair up by finding someone with the same one.
Solo Mode: Players participate independently. This is ideal for activities that run across multiple days or locations, where people can play on their own time — solo or with friends.

Step 3: In the Deckle Dashboard, click “+ Task” and choose Photo as the task submission type.
In the Task Prompt, name your activity (e.g., “Office Scavenger Hunt” or “Find the Christmas Tree”).
Click Done — your task is now saved in your collection.

Tips & Best Practices
Creating a Photo Task is quick — but to make it engaging, try using these optional features and best practices:
➤ Add a Task Description
Give extra context to your prompt. You can include:
A hint for scavenger hunts
A festive or themed message
A short explanation of the task’s purpose
This helps players understand the task better and builds excitement.
➤ Allow Gallery Upload
Let players choose a photo from their phone’s library instead of taking one on the spot.
Useful for memory-based tasks, like “Share a photo from your first day on campus” or “Upload a team photo from last year’s event.”

➤ Upload a Task Image
Show an example, highlight your brand, or give a visual clue.
This helps clarify instructions and reinforces your event’s theme.
➤ Enable Location Function
If your task requires players to go somewhere specific, turn on location guidance.
They’ll see where to go on a map before they can complete the task — perfect for races, campus tours, or checkpoint games.
➤ Customize the Finish Page
Upload an image that appears when the task is completed.
You can use it to:
Celebrate with a “Well done!” message
Show a correct example photo
Promote your brand or give the next steps
