Best photo scavenger hunt ideas: Discover Melbourne With Deckle

Best photo scavenger hunt ideas: Discover Melbourne With Deckle

Mar 18, 2024

My friend Moira and I set out for a day of discovery at the Royal Botanic Garden in Melbourne, Australia, with a twist: a photo scavenger hunt. For this adventure, we turned to Deckle, a scavenger hunt app that promised to add layers of excitement and challenge to our exploration.

Crafting Our Quest with Deckle's Incredible Race

Deckle's Incredible Race function was the cornerstone of our adventure. This feature allowed me to tailor-make our scavenger hunt, embedding the essence of Melbourne's natural splendor into a series of photo challenges. From the imaginative shapes of clouds to the vibrant hues of hidden flowers, each task was designed to lead us on a path of discovery and appreciation. Great ideas for a photo scavenger hunt!

With our phones in hand, we embarked on this quest, eager to capture moments that would fulfill our curiosity.

Before our adventure, I had already set up our scavenger hunt on Deckle. On the day, Moira and I entered pin code #2151, picked our avatars, and named our game. With those quick steps, we were ready to start exploring the Royal Botanic Garden, cameras in hand. Straight forward!

The Hunt Begins

Sky Art Search: Our first photo scavenger hunt idea starts with finding a cool-shaped cloud. We looked up and saw clouds that looked like mountains. Snap! Our first photo captured.

Floral Discovery at Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden: Next, we hunted for colorful flowers. At first, we found none. Then, surprise! A hidden garden full of blooms and a beautiful fountain. Moira had never seen it before, even though she lives close by.

Waterfall Encounter: While searching for animals, we found a hidden waterfall instead. Walking down the stairs felt like entering a secret vacation spot in Melbourne. This nature walk scavenger hunt make us feel like on vacation in the middle of Melbourne City!

Quaint Cottage Find: The task is to find an interesting building that led us to the Plant House Cottage. Its unique roof, baskets, and souvenirs make for a perfect photo.

Shadow Play: Shy away from a selfie scavenger hunt? Taking goofy pictures of our shadows instead! We laughed a lot during this task. Some funny photo scavenger hunt ideas make the day!

Storytelling Tree: We looked for a tree that seemed to tell a story. When we found it, its grandeur and the stories it seemed to hold struck us deeply.

Symmetry and Reflection: Finding symmetry and water reflections made us appreciate the garden’s tranquility even more. These photos were some of our favorites.

Autumn Scavenger Hunt by the lake: The last task was to find something we appreciated. The bench by the lake, surrounded by greenery, was the perfect spot. Melbourne's lovely Autumn weather is really enjoyable. Sitting there, we felt grateful for the day. A great way to do a fall scavenger hunt.

Reviewing Our Journey: After finishing, we looked at each other’s photos on Deckle. Seeing the garden through each other’s perspectives was the best part.

Moira's Discovery: New Eyes on Familiar Grounds

Living near the Royal Botanic Garden didn't prepare Moira for the surprises our scavenger hunt unveiled. Many spots we visited, like the unexpected waterfall and the hidden Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden, were entirely new for her. Those fun photo scavenger hunt ideas through Deckle opened her eyes to the beauty and secrets of her own neighborhood, proving that even familiar places can hold unexpected wonders. Moira's experience highlights how a simple game can transform our view of the world, encouraging us to see the familiar with fresh eyes and a renewed appreciation.

Sharing Our Finds

When I created this hunt on Deckle, I enabled a feature that allowed participants to view each other's scavenger hunt ideas photo after finishing. This way, we could see the scavenger hunt photos from different perspectives, making our adventure even richer.

A Universal Adventure Awaits

While tailored for Melbourne's Royal Botanic Garden, those photo scavenger hunt ideas are designed with questions so general that anyone anywhere in the world can embark on a similar journey of discovery. Whether you're in a bustling city or a quiet countryside, this template invites you to uncover the hidden gems around you with fresh eyes.
